Meet Karen Fairbairn
Helensburgh has been Karen’s home for the last 10 years after bringing up her family in nearby Waterfall. Karen is a retired primary school teacher of almost 50 years and still teachs in a casual capacity in the local area. She has conducted children’s choirs and co-ordinated children’s musical and dance groups over many years and has passionately supported Public education. She has assisted students, teachers and schools in NAPLAN writing and marking.
Karen cares for her grandchildren and has been involved with local playgroups, dance studios and gymnastics. She feels that she understands the needs and interests of young families living in the northern suburbs. Recently, Karen has become an advocate for aged care and disability, especially in the area of transport, access to Centrelink and community nursing.
Karen has walked, explored and driven the Illawarra escarpment over many years and wishes to positively contribute to the wonderful community where we live.
