Prioritise Housing
We will face the housing crisis head on and lead a city that people can afford to live in.
We are determined:
To provide more affordable housing; using council’s policy levers and coordinating with the State Governments reforms, working with local social and affordable housing providers
That Council bureaucracy must not be a handbrake on the local economy, we are determined to reduce DA assessment times for local housing
To ensuring infrastructure in West Dapto keeps up with housing growth
To oppose inappropriate development on the escarpment and in flood zones

We will seize opportunities open to the region to deliver a sustainable future with a vibrant economy and secure new job opportunities for our community.
We will strengthen our economy by:
Committing to a comprehensive post Covid recovery review of the city’s Economics Development Strategy
Hosting major events in the city to promote tourism and local hospitality businesses
Extending the waiver of outdoor dining fees for cafe’s and restaurants for two years to support the night-time economy
Supporting the emerging green energy industry to create jobs for the future
Support a new cruise terminal for Port Kembla
Investing in our suburbs
We will protect the unique character of our suburbs and ensure they are liveable and safe.
We will build more footpaths, cycle ways, shared paths and maintain our public streets with a focus with on safe trips to schools.
To deliver a liveable city, we will:
Guarantee the weekly red bin service for those who want it
Continue working to reduce the impact of floods on our city
Create a maintenance flying squad to ensure our local infrastructure is maintained
Build the new Helensburgh and Warrawong Library and Community Centres
Ensure council facilities are accessible to people of all-abilities, including more accessibility beach mats
Valuing our environment

Planting more street and park trees (favouring local native species), community gardens and supporting the city’s Urban Greening Strategy
Reaching climate change net zero targets for 2030 and 2050
Rolling out FOGO to units, promoting for public space recycling and explore harsher penalties for illegal dumping
Providing dog poo bags at larger suburban parks
This Labor team brings government, public and private sector, community and arts experience and we are determined to use these skills and hard earned experience to deliver new leadership and new ideas for Wollongong.
