LABOR COMMITTED TO DELIVERY OF WARRAWONG LIBRARY

Labor Candidate for Lord Mayor Tania Brown and Ward 3 candidates Cr’s Ann Martin and Linda

Campbell have committed to the delivery of the Southern Suburbs Community Centre and Library in Warrawong despite not receiving Federal grant funding.

“The Labor team on Wollongong City Council shares the disappointment of our Federal MP’s in not receiving grant funding through the Growing Regions Program,” Tania Brown said.

“We know how disappointed the Hon Stephen Jones MP and Ms Alison Byrnes MP were with the results of this funding round, and they are not taking this lying down, having already raised it with the relevant Minister.

“Together we will continue to advocate to the Federal Government and fight for an allocation in Round Two for this high quality and superbly designed facility that residents of the southern suburbs deserve.

“The Labor team commit to working with Council staff on fast tracking this project to deliver to the residents of the southern suburbs a centre they can be proud of when complete,” Tania Brown said.

“As Ward 3 Councillors we want to assure our community we remain as determined as ever to deliver the best facility we can, that meets the needs of this culturally diverse community,” Ann Martin said today.

“We will continue, with our federal colleagues, to look for any and all opportunities to secure the funding needed to build this vital community asset,” Linda Campbell said.
